Asymmetric synthesis is one of the most attractive areas in organic chemistry. In particular, the asymmetric catalysis is much more effective because the chiral information is contained in species added in very low concentrations. This is very important due to the high cost of the catalysts and also because their synthesis are difficult. All these processes are interesting since the industrial point of view, especially when the catalyst can be recovered at the end of the process. The urgency to prepare enantiomerically enriched molecules is originated by the high demand of them in many scientific areas such as medicine, pharmacy, biology, food, cosmetics, etc.

According to that, and taking in account the high interest of these substances, the project will be focussed in the synthesis of chiral compounds employing the following catalytic processes:

1. Asymmetric catalysis employing chiral Lewis acids.
2. Asymmetric organocatalysis
3. Cooperative asymmetric catalysis.
